Generating Free Traffic to Your Website - Simple Techniques

Traffic generation is the first key to online marketing success. Sure, you'll need a strong, valuable product and excellent sales copy on your sales pages in order to convert that traffic well. However, everything hinges on generating traffic to your site. Without traffic, you're out of business -- end of story.

There are many ways to generate that much needed traffic to your site. The simple way is to pay for it through pay-per-click services such as Google Adwords, which can be tricky and extremely expensive if you aren't careful. You could also buy raw traffic through a number of resources, but the bulk of this traffic would not be targeted to your specific product niche -- not a very good use of your marketing funds. So what should you do?

Fortunately there are a number of traffic generation techniques that drive highly targeted visitors to your website absolutely free. This is the best type of traffic generation you could hope for when marketing on the internet, or anywhere for that matter!

One of the best ways to drive free, targeted traffic to your website is article marketing. With this traffic generation technique, you start by registering at one or more of the article directory sites available -- just do an online search and you'll find many. Once registered, begin writing articles that pertain to your specific niche. This could be crafts, music instruction, fishing, real estate, internet marketing -- the list goes on and on. Just be sure that your article content targets the interests of the niche traffic you are looking for.

A big key to making this work for you is to include your website address in the resource box at the end of the article. That way, if a reader of your article likes the information you provided they can easily be directed to your website for more information. Once they click on your site link, you now have a highly targeted visitor to your web pages, and you generated that visitor for free! Even better, if a publisher likes your material and begins placing your article in their online publication, you'll have very large amounts of additional targeted traffic to your site as well.

Lastly, make sure that your articles are built around keywords that pertain to the material provided. By doing this, you'll eventually get additional targeted traffic through the search engines as well.

Can you see the powerful possibilities of traffic generation through article marketing?

Another great way to generate targeted traffic for free is posting to forums and blogs that share your niche. Just go to the search engines like Google and enter your niche category, followed by the word "forums" after the category type. You can also do this to access blogs as well. Once you have a list of forums and blogs that share your niche, go ahead and participate in them by posting comments and information that pertain to the conversations taking place. Just make sure you actually participate, rather than post a blatant ad -- that doesn't go over well at all. Rest assured, you'll have the opportunity to post your website link when you create your profile at the forum or blog site.

Other traffic generation techniques for driving targeted traffic are search engine optimization, press release marketing, Squidoo marketing, classified ad posting, and search engine submission to name a few. If you are interested in exploring these topics you can either access the search engine databases, or use the search boxes located within the article directory sites to access articles written on these various topics. This should get you going along the right path. However, article marketing in conjunction with forum and blog posting are excellent ways to begin driving free, targeted traffic to your website immediately.

MLM Compensation Plans - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Part 4

Now that we've covered the basic strong and weak points of the most common mlm compensation plans in Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the series, it's time to take a good look at how some top mlm companies have attempted to provide a solution to the compensation plan dilemma.

As I mentioned in Part 3, there is a new breed of network marketing companies that are using what's known as a Hybrid compensation plan model. Hybrid plans, as the name suggests, combine the best components of some or all of the common plans and create a new plan design from them. A Hybrid can be a dramatic improvement or twist on a common old-style plan, or it can be a combination of features from different mlm compensation plans that create a new plan design altogether. Whatever the case, the goal of a Hybrid compensation plan should be the increase in fair compensation to the entire distributor base, while leaving enough working capital for the company to run profitably. There are 2 hybrid compensation plans that have recently emerged as excellent examples of how to achieve these goals.

The first of these is a variation and improvement of the Unilevel compensation plan. It is basically a 2 tier compensation plan (with a roll-up feature for the pros) that places the bulk of the compensation percentage on the first 2 levels of the plan. There are quite a few network marketing companies that are beginning to either switch to this style plan or launch with it from the start. This is a very good thing for potential distributors, and I'll explain why.

First, by placing a large payout and unlimited sponsorship positions on the first level, new reps have a BIG incentive to sponsor consistently -- negating the laziness factor of the Matrix. This is great for the company for increasing business volume, and it's great for the rep because sponsoring new reps into the company is the name of the game if one wants to build a solid recurring income from their business. Secondly, the new rep has a big reason to help their new reps get started because the 2nd tier percentage -- the commission on the folks their new rep sponsors -- is quite large as well. This helps build morale and also a strong, solid group built on relationships. In addition, it is common in these types of plans to have a roll-up commission feature based on personal sponsoring, which is attractive to the professionals as well.

The second of the Hybrid mlm compensation plans we'll touch on is what could be called a Matching Matrix. In this plan, as with all Matrix plans, the distributor is allowed a specific number of sponsorship positions on the first level. The best of the top mlm companies using this style plan set the first level limit at 2. By doing this, the plan leverages the advantage of the Binary plan, since the rep only has to concentrate on building two legs. However, unlike a standard Binary, there is commission percentage paid on the entire group volume no matter which leg the volume is generated in -- a nice improvement.

Also, this style plan has a matching bonus feature, preferably 100%. This means every time a new rep comes into the business, the sponsor gets a 100% matching bonus on that distributor's business volume. This is a HUGE incentive to sponsor consistently and support new reps, for obvious reasons. Also, by structuring the plan this way, it is just like having an unlimited number of front-line sponsorship positions, even though there are really only 2 allowed. Better yet, new reps after the first 2 would be placed downline, supporting their business-building efforts. There are so many reasons this type of Hybrid plan has emerged as a great combination of the best plan features.

I hope this 4-part series has helped you understand the basic strengths and weaknesses of the common Big 4 compensation plans used by network marketing companies for years, as well as the benefits of the newer Hybrid plans that have recently emerged in the industry as well.

MLM Compensation Plans - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Part 3

So, in Part 1 of our discussion regarding mlm compensation plans, we looked at the good and bad points of the Stairstep Breakaway and Matrix compensation plan designs.

In Part 2, we looked at the good and bad points of the Binary and Unilevel mlm compensation plans and how their design could either benefit or hurt potential distributors.

So where do we go from here? With all the top mlm companies and network marketing companies to choose from, how does a potential distributor choose a company to work with if all the compensation plans have both good aspects, as well as serious pitfalls?

Good questions indeed! Luckily I think there is a solution to this situation -- a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.

But first, a quick rundown of what to look for if you decide to join a company that has one of the Big 4 mlm compensation plans:

Stairstep Breakaway -- Make sure the company has a very generous payout on open volume (volume that is outside of the volume under your breakaway distributors), because that is all you'll be paid on if your open volume level isn't large enough to qualify you for generational payouts. There are some companies out there that qualify under this criteria if you look hard enough, but not many. Again, the big drawback here is that you'll lose out on business volume you've built if your new business volume (open volume) isn't large enough. Generous payout on open volume can help ease the pain of this.

Matrix -- While I love the team-building and support concept of the Matrix, I still have a hard time with a plan that breeds laziness and a reliance on someone else to do the work. Unless a Matrix plan is designed to reward personal sponsorship, people tend to squat and wait, adopting a type of welfare mentality. Downlines in a Matrix plan tend to grow in a very odd pattern, since the workers build their business and the squatters just sit on their position and hope for spillover. Therefore alot of your business volume produced could be outside of your payout levels, since your personally sponsored leaders may reside in positions far down in your group matrix.

Binary -- To be blunt, unless you're a heavy hitter with lots of industry contacts I wouldn't go near a standard binary. Too much volume is left on the table uncollected by the average distributor, which can never be good for both distributor morale or company longevity. These plans are great for companies and full-timers but very tough on the little guy. Enough said.

Unilevel -- While this is one of my personal favorites in plan design, there are still a few drawbacks. If you're a seasoned pro, you won't like payout volume being cutoff at a certain level -- if you have a group that goes wild you'll miss out on alot of volume down deep in your business. If you're the typical part-timer and the company is touting a 12 level payout plan don't get too excited -- you will probably never come close to building a group that deep, so you'll be forced to collect low commission percentages on the few levels that you do build. Good unilevel plans pay large commision percentages on the first 1-3 levels, and in doing so create a way for the average representative to get into profit quickly. As the saying goes, reps that are making money in a program don't leave the program. For the full-timer, look for a plan that also pays infinity style commissions for your legs that go deep.

If all of this is a bit overwhelming and you're feeling like there isn't a compensation plan out there for you, fortunately there are a few top mlm companies that have taken the best aspects of each plan and blended them into a new plan design. These are typically called hybrid compensation plans, and they can be quite attractive to both the full-time pro and typical part-timer.

In Part 4 of the series, the final installment, I will highlight 2 hybrid plans that have recently gained popularity due to their appeal to both part-time and full-time distributors.

MLM Compensation Plans - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Part 2

As stated in Part 1 of this article series, there are many different mlm compensation plans being utilized by not only startups in the industry but also the top mlm companies as well. There really is no standard per se -- it more or less comes down to the goals of the company either short term or long term.

The next compensation plan I'd like to discuss is the Binary. This is a variation in a sense of the Matrix, in that a Binary only allows you to place 2 people on your first level. Everyone else that comes into the program, either from your efforts or those of your upline support team, go below the original 2 people. Therefore, you only need to focus on building 2 legs in your business, often called the Left leg and Right leg.

Again, on the surface it sounds pretty attractive. However, let's drill down a bit deeper. Network marketing companies that use a Binary compensation plan typically require you to balance the volume between your left and right leg organizations, usually in a one third to two thirds ratio. The leg with only one third of the business volume is known as your weak leg. So in order to kick out commission payments -- known as cycles in this type of plan -- you'd need about a one third to two thirds ratio in your business volume to maximize the payout of the plan, since your payout is based on the volume amount in the weak leg. That's the big rub here. If you have a runaway leg that takes off for you -- many people are lucky if they can build 1 runaway leg in any plan -- but your weak leg goes close to or completely nowhere, you get virtually no payout on your group business volume. All that volume will either roll-up to your qualified upline -- probably a heavy hitter -- or to the company itself.

Not so attractive now, is it? Companies always do well with these plans because so much volume tends to go uncollected. Also, I know of many top mlm companies using a Binary that tout their big money earners, many of which are collecting roll-up payouts from their downline members who can't seem to balance their business volume and collect commissions. Some companies try to fix the inherent problems with matching bonuses and other methods, but I have yet to see a binary plan that is beneficial to the average part-time distributor.

In an effort to level the playing field for the average person, many top mlm companies have started using a Unilevel plan. This plan is very simple -- what a concept! To qualify for commission, you are normally required to purchase a small amount of product each month for personal or retail use. Then you are allowed to sponsor as many new distributors as you'd like on your first level, and you are paid a certain commission percentage down through a set number of additional levels -- usually 5 to 10. This negates the laziness factor brought on by the spillover concept in a Matrix, since new distributors have to actually build a group to get paid. It also solves the frustrating balancing factor of the Binary because you'll get paid on all the volume that is within your payout levels, no matter where the volume happens to be.

Although this may not be a favorite among the big guns that can build huge organizations that go down many levels deep, it is truly a simple and fair plan for the average person looking to make some additional income or even replace their income and go full-time.

In Part 3 of this series, I'll wrap up this overview of common mlm compensation plans and offer some suggestions on where to go moving forward.

MLM Compensation Plans - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Part 1

If you've done any research at all trying to find a top network marketing company to work with, you've probably discovered there are many different compensation plans that are being utilized today. Gone are the days where there were only three or four companies to choose from, all with the same basic structure. Today there are literally thousands of companies, with various compensation plan setups. While the creativity involved in designing the modern mlm compensation plans may be impressive, it doesn't necessarily bode well for the distributor base. This article will provide some of the good points, and the bad points, of the common plans being used today.

The compensation plan that was used from the very beginning and is still being used today is the Stairstep Breakaway. While this plan has been responsible for creating HUGE incomes for successful full time distributors -- also called heavy hitters -- it can be a very brutal plan to make money with for the part-timer. This is due to what is called Open Volume.

When you signup a new person and they build their business volume to a certain level, they break away from your personal business volume and you then can earn a percentage on their business moving forward. However, you need to maintain a certain level, often quite large, of open volume -- volume outside of the volume in the break away business -- in order to qualify for these payouts. So, if you have a person break away from you and build a very large business but you can't maintain a large amount of open or new business, you'll be unqualified for commission and only paid on the new business volume, NOT on the break away volume. This can lead to stockpiling product in order to qualify, not to mention a very disgruntled distributor base. Some of the top mlm companies have recognized this and adjusted their compensation plans to pay generous commissions on new, open volume, but the distributor still feels they are leaving money on the table because, in fact, they are!

To combat some of the inherent problems with the Breakaway Plan, some companies began using what is called a Matrix style plan. In a Matrix you are normally only required to purchase a small amount of product per month for personal or retail use in order to qualify for commission, which is a good thing. Distributors are arranged in a matrix, let's say a 3 by 10, and your are paid a certain percentage on all 10 levels. Sounds pretty good, but watch out for the double edged sword called spillover.

What this means is that if you are working a 3 by 10 matrix plan you can only sponsor 3 people on your first level, and everyone else you sponsor would need to go under one of the original 3. This is what is commonly known as spillover. While this sounds like a great way to promote team building at first, the problem with this setup is that it tends to breed laziness. Many people see this plan and signup never intending to do any business building work at all. They are waiting for all the spillover from people that are actually working their business! Instead of rolling their sleeves up and going to work, they are looking for a freebie. Consequently, it is very difficult to build a large business when people are coming on board expecting to do nothing and get paid for it.

Hopefully this information has provided some insight into the Stairstep Breakaway and Matrix mlm compensation plans. In Part 2 of this series, I will dive into the two other common plan designs in use today and uncover their strengths and weaknesses.

Starting your Own Home-Based Business - Some Practical Tips

Deciding to start your own home-based business may be one of the best decisions you can ever make in your life. This is because having your own business will provide you with the convenience and flexibility that you cannot enjoy when you are a regular employee. But before you take the plunge and decide to set up your own business, you must realize that this endeavor is not that simple, so it is recommended that you start small at first but think big at the same time. A lot of businesspeople actually started out in their own backyard - that’s right, they started out right in their own homes. Here are some practical tips that will enable you to start your home business off right:

1. Separate your personal space and your working space- Just like in your regular job, it is important to set aside a space that will enable you to work properly without any distraction. Setting aside your own working space will also allow you to concentrate on the task at hand so you can achieve your dreams.

2. Have all the materials you need - Make a list of all the office supplies, etc. that you'll need to get out of the gate. This tip may sound simple but you may be surprised by the number of people who started their home business without thinking of buying the right materials for their endeavor at the start of their operations.

3. Manage your time - Since you are in a home business setting, it is very easy to become distracted and slack off from work. To avoid this, you must determine the days and number of hours you will really work. It is important to be committed to this decision. Get out your day planner and lay out a daily work schedule for yourself.

4. Plan your strategies - It is essential that you plan your tasks properly to achieve your goals and meet client requirements. It is recommended for you to create a step by step plan for you to meet these requirements.

5. Network - This term says it all - it is important to establish connections that will make your business become known to the community. Networking is one of the key ingredients that will contribute to the success of the home business.

6. Create an image of professionalism - For you to be treated as a professional, you must first create a professional image for your business. This means that you shoud set up a business bank account, a new phone line, and a fax line. You also need to be courteous and sound professional to all your clients.

7. Automate routine tasks as much as you can - When a business is just starting out, business owners usually have a lot of time to take care of all the details of their businesses. This is probably the reason why they do not think of automation at the start of their operations. But automating routine tasks may be essential later on as your business becomes bigger so doing this now will save you a lot of time and effort in the future.

These tips, if followed, should get you started on the right path when starting your own home-based business. As you progress, just expand on them accordingly.

Make Extra Cash - 5 Simple Ideas

Being in business or being employed doesn’t necessarily mean that the income you are generating is enough to sustain your wants and needs. This is exactly the reason why a lot of people are always on the look-out for better income opportunities that will enable them to experience financial freedom. But while this may sound like a simple task, the truth is making extra cash can be quite difficult because your time is restricted and likewise, you also have limited resources that can aid you in this endeavor. However, there are simple ways that will enable you to make some extra cash without that much of a difficultly. All you need to do is be persistent and hard-working to make this endeavor successful. Here are some of the ways for you to generate extra money:

1. Become an agent – being an agent enables you to join a new company while being flexible in your time and resources. For example, you can be an insurance agent and you really do not need to go to the insurance office everyday -- you will simply offer the product where you are and derive commissions from this endeavor.
2. Join a multi-level marketing company – this endeavor enables you to earn passive income that can give you some extra cash in the long run because for every sale you do, you earn a commission. But the nice feature about multi-level marketing is that it also enables you to recruit other people and earn commissions from their sales as well.
3. Establish a business online – being online means that you can be quite flexible in your time because you only need to check up on your site once in a while. However, this convenience is also dependent on the kind of online business you run because there are some businesses that require your computer to be online 24 hours a day.
4. Make a blog – a blog is somehow related to making a website but the nice thing about blogs is that you can establish one for free. You only need to register and write a few articles everyday or every other day for you to generate income for as long as your blog exists. This income comes from advertisers who want to be present on your blog. Note though that you first need to register with sites that place advertisements on your blogs.
5. Invest – investments enable you to yield gains from your endeavors. Investing can be quite simple, especially if you seek the guidance of a financial expert who can invest your money in investment mediums that have a good performance.

As you can see, there are many ways to you to generate extra money to augment your regular income. The key is to be open to new ideas and become creative.

Give Yourself Freedom Through A Home Business!

Most of us have had at least one job that made us feel like prisoners. You show up for your eight-hour day, sometimes more if there is forced overtime. You sit at your desk, confined by a tiny office or cubicle. You feel like a caged bird. It gets harder and harder to get up and drag yourself into work each day. If this sounds familiar there is a way out. The key to freedom is running your own home business. It opens up those walls to allow you to stretch your wings.

Give yourself freedom to be your own boss. You set the pace, the hours and the pay. You don’t have to worry about the work warden coming around and shouting work harder...faster ...longer hours. Free yourself! You are the one who should set the pace and the standard. You are the one who guides your life.

Give yourself the freedom to set your own hours. The sun is out and you have an itch to get out your tackle box and fishing pole. Maybe your sister is in town for two days and you haven’t seen her for two years. Usually you are forced to ask your boss for time off. You are often denied and spend your workday gritting your teeth to get through. If you are your own boss and you set your hours, you also give yourself much needed and well deserved time off. No filling out a form and waiting to see if it can be approved. Taking some time to do what is fun in life makes you a better worker. We are not robots and we do need down time to refresh our spirits.

Free yourself to care for family or friends. If you are a parent you’ve surely had a phone call from the school saying that little Johnny or Jill is ill and needs to be picked up. Once again you have to stare into your bosses eyes and ask if you can leave early to care for your little one. Most of the time you get a lecture on priorities and how important it is for every employee to be at work. You understand and don’t need a "talking to". You need to go care for your child. If you have an ill friend or parent you get the same ordeal. No one needs this unwanted stress. By running your own business you are free to care for those who need you so much more than a company where you are just a number.

Just think...you can wake up everyday to a job that is in your hands. You control what you do and when you do it. That’s the real freedom from running your own business. Don’t let yourself be caged by a mundane job. Don’t wait to get started -- free yourself with your own business. Do it NOW!

Making Money Online -- More Than Just Turning On Your Computer

Some people would like to tell you that making money online is as easy as turning on your computer. They might not say it like that, but they'll tell you something like "This is the only program you will never need." Or, "We'll give you everything you need to make money at home." They never tell you up front how much time it's going to take, how much money or how much knowledge. These things are all items you need to know before you start to try making money online.

It's not to say that programs that make these types of claims aren't good or even great, but you should know what you're getting into. The first thing you should understand about making money online is that it's never going to make you rich overnight. It can make you rich, and you can make money overnight, but the odds of you getting rich overnight are about equal to you getting sent to prison for fraud, embezzlement or the like. Knowing this right off the bat is going to put you in a better mind set than most people who try to start a business online.

While you may be desperate for cash, desperation is not going to change these facts. If you need a large amount of cash overnight, look somewhere else. But you can start earning income quickly with affiliate programs. Look for programs that pay via PayPal so you can get quick access to your money.

You don't have to have one source of income, or even one type of income. You may make some money from affiliate marketing, you may make some money taking surveys or selling items on ebay. Just remember that making money online can be done in many many ways, but it all takes time and effort to really bring in the revenue.

How to Write Autoresponders that Sell

The key to writing effective autoresponders is to have a clear objective from the beginning. Since autoresponders are being sent to those who are interested in your goods and services, chances are they have already visited your site or have made a purchase in the past. Autoresponders are a way to earn repeat business or to sell a new product. They should not be long and they should have a point that is easy to understand.

While many people use autoresponders as a way to reach a large number of people without having to send each person on their mailing list a personal message, you should keep in mind that automated messages do not sell products. Even though your message will be read by thousands of people, making each of them feel special is the goal. Those who receive your message should feel like it was to them from you personally. When writing your message, use a conversational tone. Always include your full name, your company name, and URL so customers can click on it easily when they want to visit your site. Your message should only be one or two paragraphs in length and should mention your web site once or twice.

Don't use autoresponders to plug everyday products. This is a waste of time and if those on your email list receive too many messages, they will want to opt out. Save autoresponders for holidays, special sales, new products launches, or any other time you have something important to say.

In your opening paragraph, introduce your product. Tell the customer when it is available and where they can find it. Since most people do not take the time to read entire emails from companies and small businesses, you should include contact information in the beginning and at the end of your message. In second paragraph, you can describe the benefits and features of the new product and offer advice on using it.

Since sales letters are generally ignored by customers, an effective autoresponder should not sound like you are trying to sell something. Instead, it should sound more like an update or a friendly reminder to visit your web site. In the subject line, you should include your company name so people will know it's from you. Since spamming has become a big issue in recent years, wording your message and your subject line correctly will keep your message from the bulk mail pile.

After sending autoresponders, track their progress to see how many hits you receive as a result. If your message was effective, you will experience an increase in business a few hours after sending the message. Give it a few days to measure the success of your autoresponder.

The Correct Approach To Email Marketing

As with all things, there is a right and wrong way to implement email marketing. In many cases batch email marketing can be waste of time and money, especially if you are sending emails to people who have not agreed to accept emails from you. In that case it could be considered spam and lead to being booted off your internet service provider. It can also create animosity with your subscribers if they receive a constant flow of emails from you that appear to be advertising only, with no benefit to them.

Email marketing can be an integral part of your marketing plan and if done right it can bring in tons of business - if done wrong it will bring in tons of complaints. Consider when signing up for information online that you are agreeing to accept emails from that company as well as third party companies. One day you open your mailbox and have hundreds of email for items or websites that you have no interest in visiting. You will have to go through each one to stop receiving mail from them, and even placing their address in a spam file does not mean none will get through.

Use email marketing as a target advertising technique, sending email filled with information the subscribers to your email list will be interested in receiving. Even if they do not read each and every piece you send them, your name will be on their mind and if it is of interest to them, your name will not be put in the trashcan list.

If you have different segments to your business, consider a separate email list for each segment. If you offer products and services, there needs to be different emails for each one, because sending all your information to everyone will only serve to aggravate people who get information in which they have no interest in receiving.

Most people scan the subject before opening an email and if they do open it, the first 20 to 30 words must be enough to draw them into the rest of the email. If not, they will hit the delete key. The subject has to have an interesting and promising title, and must also pertain to the email. If they get a piece with the subject stating they have won a million dollars and the email tells them about a new mouse trap, they will get upset with you. Keep it honest.

Email marketing will only work if the subject line relates to the message and the information being sent is of interest to the recipient. Sending the same email every week will not garner any support from your list members - it will only appear that you have nothing new to discuss and should not be wasting their time. Keep the message simple, keep it honest and leave it to the discretion of the recipients to remain on your list. Asking them for a reason they want to opt-out of the list if they choose that option is OK, but do not continue to press for a reason if they tell you to go away and take your emails with you. However, if you approach email marketing properly you should have happy and content list members.

Pay Per Click vs. Traditional Advertising Online

Pay per click advertising has been slowly gaining speed as the way to go in online advertising since its start in 2002. The minimum cost to set up an account has really come down which some believe makes pay per click advertising one of the most cost-effective ways to advertise online. Other forms of advertising online, including regular search engine inclusion, banner ads, cross-linking and listing with directories, can have decent results but few are as effective and affordable as pay per click. This doesn't mean you should choose pay per click and avoid other forms of advertising - a good combination is always the best decision for any business, whether on the net or in the real world marketplace.

The way PPC usually works is that you will link a credit card or bank account to the pay per click account and when your balance hits a certain amount the money is withdrawn automatically from your payment source. Other traditional forms of online advertising generally expect full payment up front for a certain amount of time. This can be a little daunting when trying an advertising method for the first time and you're not sure what kind of results you're going to get for your money. Unfortunately, advertising is often a trial and error system.

The major benefit of pay per click advertising is that you don't pay unless a visitor clicks your advertising link. This usually means a higher percentage of your advertising budget actually leads to customers. Read the terms of any pay per click site that you're considering, since some guarantee clicks as an incentive. People who are getting paid or getting advertising from the company usually produce these clicks. These are not beneficial to your business and should be avoided. Other forms of advertisings may not take as much time to perfect as pay per click advertising. With PPC you can expect to spend an amount of time every week reviewing your keywords and revising your ads and the keyword they are linked to.

Both pay per click and traditional online advertising have their strengths and their weaknesses. Pay per click advertising may cost less but it also takes up more valuable time. The results are targeted to an extent but may not necessarily lead to interested customers so weekly revising is needed for each keyword account. Traditional advertising may cost more but are usually intended for superior targeting of customers. The traditional forms of advertising online don't call for quite as much upkeep as PPC advertising requires.

Should You Be Involved in MLM Marketing?

Everyone wants to strike it rich, and a lot of people are doing it online, with at home businesses and through multi level marketing, which can also be labeled as a pyramid scheme. There are some companies that are legitimate businesses; however, there are a lot of companies that just scam the public.

Multi level marketing works by companies starting out with one person who signs up a number of other sales representatives who, in turn sign up more reps who also sign up more. It’s a difficult cycle that rarely ends well for anyone other than the originator of the company. Some of these have been called pyramid schemes and are, in fact, illegal in some states. Be wary however, because sometimes the not so legitimate multi level marketing companies can be guilty of price fixing and falsely advertising profits for members. Price fixing is a maneuver used by companies to promise the other to sell their products at the same price which can ultimately drive the costs up making it profitable for the companies only. When the companies falsely advertise member’s profits, they can literally make them seem outrageous to the point of unbelievable. Smartly done, they can make you believe that you can make a comfortable living from home without putting forth too much effort or time. Stay at home moms are often victims of these schemes.

Don’t fret however, or worry about your company right off the bat. There are legitimate, FTC approved companies that do not try to manipulate or mislead their prospective employees. In fact, the federal trade commission offers advice to lead you from the true pyramid schemes and tell you how to identify the honest companies. Legitimate multi level marketing companies earn profits on sales of products and new member recruitment whereas pyramid schemes make money on recruitment of new members alone. There truly is a genuine opportunity to make a great deal of money with multi level marketing companies, and there are plenty of well known MLM’s out there that have proven to be successful.

Perhaps you know someone who sells you make up and other beauty products. Guess what? They’re working for a multi level marketing team. They may drive around in a brand new Cadillac or hand out little catalogues every two weeks. They may even be doing very well for themselves and not even have a clue that what they are doing is borderline illegal.

One way to make sure that your multi level marketing company stays successful is to have a product that will be popular for a long while. The longer the MLM stays in business, the more trustworthy it can be; just be careful of how you run it. The key is to make sure the goal of the company is the actual movement of valuable products or services to the end consumer - if that is the case, you've found a good one.

Are Online Ads Worth Your Buck?

Whenever you are surfing the internet looking for information you will see a plethora of online advertising offering virtually every conceivable product or service under the sun. As more people hit the information highway, often shunning traditional information sources such as print, television and radio, advertisers are also making the switch. Online advertising can a cost-effective method of reaching web surfers and getting their message in front of a different audience.

One of the biggest advantages of online ads is also one of the biggest disadvantages. Online ads can reach a wider audience and if you have a global internet business can expand the boundaries of your customer base. In most cases you have the ability to determine the types of sites on which your online ads will appear, but in many instances once you place the ad, especially if going through an online ad agency, your site could end up on sites that are inconsistent with you beliefs.

If your business is strictly locally based, with print, television or radio advertising you can restrict the geographic locations where the ads will be heard or seen. For many local-only businesses this type of target advertising reaches only those are likely to be interested in your business and be reasonably expected to visit in person. It all depends on whether you want your advertising effort to have a shotgun effect or a rifle shot.

While a shotgun approach can reach more people in the least amount of time in a much wider area, it will also have many of the ads whiz out into cyberspace with no contact with potential customers. With the rifle approach you can aim your advertising at a specific customer base and even with a potentially higher cost can often realize a better return on the advertising dollar.

When considering online advertising you have to look at the potential return to determine if they are worth your investment. With internet advertising, as will many other forms, it is a numbers game. If you anticipate that 10 percent of those who see the ad will respond and ten percent of those respondents will result in a sale, you should consider that 10,000 dollar advertisement in print media would see 1,000 respondents resulting in 100 sales.

With online ads, your advertisement may reach a million viewers, resulting in 100,000 respondents and 10,000 sales. Weighing these purely hypothetical numbers would seem to make online advertising a good investment. However, depending on the placement of online ads, such as on sites that customers for your products or service rarely if ever visit, the number of respondents may be considerably lower, reducing the potential return on your online ad investment.

If you have an online business, it may pay to advertise where your customers are looking. If your business is completely offline, advertising online may simply make the business with which you advertise the recipient of any income.

Search Engine Optimization That Anyone Can Understand

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is used by online businesses as a way to increase their chances of being in the top ten rankings on search engines. Because most consumers only look at the top three or five websites listed, being that high in ranking increases the possibility of making a sale dramatically. Because there are many tricks to using SEO, you may become confused easily if you are not used to it.

The best ways to use SEO is to add keywords and phrases to your web pages and create back links to your website so potential customers will be able to find your site regardless of whether they use a search engine or not. Search engines use web spiders that search each website and sites connected to it in order to create rankings. While this occurs very quickly, search engines actually check millions of pages checking for sites that are frequently mentioned online. Adding keywords and phrases and adding back links on other websites are easy ways to increase your web presence.

Keywords and phrases are used by those using search engines. After creating your website, you should conduct research to find the most popular keywords that people use when looking for goods and services similar to the ones on your website. Each page within your site should include keywords in the content, Meta tags, and in the heading of your page. Choosing keywords is not an exact science. Since you cannot read the minds of those using search engines, you will need to choose words and phrases that are common. Search engines have free tools you can use to determine which words are the most popular for your website.

You will have to update keywords each month because the popularity will change and words will no longer be used as much as they were before. Update your web pages when adding new content or sections to your website. This will help increase the number of hits you receive. Track your hits to see where they are coming from so you can have a better understanding of which keywords work the best.

Creating back links is another way to increase your web presence. Back links are simply links to your web site. They can be added to your blog, articles you submit to article directories, press releases, and other web sites. The more back links you have, the higher your search engine ranking will be. Adding keywords to your press releases and articles will also help.

SEO is not difficult to achieve once you get the hang of it. Start by adding keywords and phrases in order to begin using SEO. Add back links whenever possible so you will gain more exposure on the web. Track where all of your traffic is coming from so you can market in areas that generate the most traffic.

Search Engine Optimization for Newbies

So you’re searching the web for something that you need information on, something that you want to buy or just searching for the heck of it. You go to one of the handful of search engines out there, type in what you’re looking for and receive a ton of different sites to visit. Well, what if you want your site or business to be on the top of that list? This is where search engine optimization comes into play. Simply put, search engine optimization gives your site several different ways to be looked up on the net whether it is by keywords, local searches or even images. Are you interested?

Keywords are the most important part of search engine optimization. Otherwise known as tags, keywords are descriptors of your business or site. Let’s say your business is agriculture. Possible keywords, or tags, could include farm, farming, animals, plants, garden, gardening, farm machines, and weather. And these are just to name a few. The more keywords you incorporate means the more possible hits for your site. And in some cases the more keywords, or tags, that you have, the better the chance is of having your site at the top of the list.

Search engine optimization increases the traffic to your site through search engines in a more mathematical way. It works on the theory that the higher your site appears on the list, the more it will be visited. Search engine optimization gives your site different ways to be researched as well. Instead of working off of keywords alone, you can use your business logo or various pictures on your site to promote business. Images can be searched just as easily as tags or keywords.

Using a local search can be highly beneficial to both you and the person searching. Local searches narrow the results field and oftentimes, if you have a unique product selection, your business can be the only result that shows up. Internet marketing can be a wonderful tool for your company as it gives you more options than just putting an ad in the paper, phone book or doing pricey commercials.

Another option of search engine optimization is using a vertical search for your company. While the larger search engines provide quality service, certain keywords that you have chosen can also lead to other links and sites. By going with a vertical search engine, you can almost guarantee that you will be searched by people who are looking for your products or services specifically. For example, there is a site dedicated for searching up dental products that only brings up things related to your search. Search engine optimization, or SEO, may sound complicated but it makes your business’ life easier.

Posting To Chat Forums Can Bring In Business…Here’s How!

If you're a frequent visitor to chat forums, you can use them to your advantage without worry about spamming anyone. That doesn't mean that you have to go in there with the sole intention of promoting your business, but there are a few things that you can do in a subtle way that can possibly land you some new customers. It can be one of the easiest ways in the world to draw business to your website, and you don't even have to do any work to accomplish it.

Most chat forums allow registered users to add a signature line underneath their name. This information shows up each time you post a message to the forum, and can be advantageous to someone who is looking for any of your products and services. Some forum posters don't bother looking at the websites of users unless they are regular users of the forum, and then they might get curious. Also, if there was a discussion and you just happened to mention that you have a website, some people may decide to check it out just out of curiosity. It doesn't matter why they chose to do it, the important thing is that you provided enough interest to make someone want to check your website in order to obtain more information.

Another way a chat forum may help you draw traffic to your website is to casually weave your business into conversations as appropriate. For example, if you distribute parts for race cars, and someone is discussing where to find a particular part, and you know that you can get it for the poster at a better price than he has been quoted, you can casually mention that your company has that part at a lower price and let the poster make the decision to go to your website or to ask you’re the question specifically. You don't want to make yourself a nuisance, or you will find that the forum owner or moderator will remove you from the forum. Some don't care but others are very choosy about the subjects that are discussed in the forum, especially if it's a specialized subject forum.

A third way to bring in business using a chat forum is to search for one that is specific to the type of products or services you provide. Although this may not always be possible, it's an avenue worth researching. It will definitely allow you more freedom in saying things that will draw attention to your website than a generalized forum. The key is to get the word out that you have a business and what it involves so that you generate enough interest for posters in the forum to want to visit. Just make sure you try and add substance to the topics being discussed - you don't want to blatantly advertise unless the forum was created for that purpose. You just want to drop subtle hints and undetectable invitations to visit your website.

Five Perks to Working for Yourself

Working for yourself can be a big responsibility. Not everyone is up to it and it takes a lot of a hard work and dedication. You must be the kind of person that is self motivated, organized, confident, and a self starter. Realize that all your hard work will be put into a start up adventure and you may not see a large profit the first year. With that being said there are some definite perks to working for yourself, here are five of them.

Money makes the world go around and starting your own business working for yourself means you have a greater potential to see more money than if you are working for someone else. Imagine that you work for $10 an hour. The company you work for pays $20 an hour for you to work plus materials, but the machinery you run produces $60 an hour worth of product. The company just made a profit of $30 per hour on your $10 an hour salary. As the employee you will never see that $30 profit, but as an entrepreneur you will.
Pride is another perk working for yourself will bring. You can take pride in working hard to create a business that flourishes. A business that provides well for you and your family will bring you great joy and pride. You will also be proud that you have accomplished what many others are unable to do, and that you have your own income based on your hard work.
Flexibility is another great perk to working for yourself. You are your own boss and that means you make the schedule. You work when you need to and have time off when you need to. A really successful business has plenty of employees that work hard and the boss can take off when ever he or she needs to.
Freedom is yet another perk to being your own boss. You will have the freedom to explore the things you want to do. Turning your hobbies and the things you love into your work will make you happy and give you an income.
Family is important and being your own boss gives you the opportunity to spend more time with your family. This means you make your own schedule and if you want to go to your kid’s baseball game, soccer game or ballet recital you can be there. If you are sick you do not have to call in, because you are the boss.
Taking the leap and becoming your own boss can offer a lot to enrich your life.
